Ukraine Gains Market Status from EU

We remind that the fact it was orally declared on December 1, during the "Ukraine-EU" (European Union) summit.

That fact was already known on November, 30 evening, yet Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, took his chance to congratulate Viktor Yushchenko, President of Ukraine, personally.

It was announced in the joint communique on the Ukraine-EU summit outcomes that Ukraine now meets all the relevant requirements. Accordingly, the EU leaders confirmed their readiness to enhance economical cooperation with Ukraine.

We remind that Viktor Yushchenko, President of Ukraine, expects it possible for Ukraine to enter World Trade Organization (WTO) by the end of the year. EU leaders expressed hope that this will boost the negotiations on creation of a free-trade zone.

Ukraine confirmed its strategic goal of integration into the EU which was welcomed by EU leaders.

The outcomes of the Ukraine-EU summit itself were assumed outstanding during the resuming press-conference. President Yushchenko emphasized that 'Ukraine is part of Europe' (indeed, it is situated in the geographical heart of European Continent) and assured that Ukraine does every effort to pledge European community its participation shall never produce any problems but benefit the EU.

Jose Manuel Barroso, President of the European Commission, agreed Ukraine progressed significantly in its reforms during the elapsing year, while the European Union shall stepwise build-up its relations with Ukraine. He assumed that has no doubt of the European future of Ukraine.
